Side Effects of Steroids and How to Treat Them

What are Steroids?

Steroids continue to be a hot topic in sports news as bodybuilders and athletes use them illegally to gain an edge on the field.

Anabolic steroids are hormones taken orally or intramuscularly that increase the production of testosterone.

Anabolic steroids are used to increase muscle mass.

Anabolic is the term for this muscle-building ability.

Anabolic steroids are not to be confused with catabolic Corticosteroids. These medications are routinely used as anti-inflammatory medication to treat diseases in which inflammation is a part of the treatment process.

Anabolic steroids are now common in today’s society to enhance sports performance. The abuse of these drugs starts as young as middle school.

What are the Different Types of Steroids Available?

Two types of steroids are found in the body.

Coritcosteroids

The adrenal gland, located above the kidney, is where corticosteroids are made. Aldosterone regulates sodium levels in the body. Cortisol plays a variety of roles in the body. It also acts as part the body’s stress response system, decreasing inflammation.

Prednisone and prednisolone are common corticosteroid drugs. They can be administered by mouth, intravenously or intramuscularly. These medications may be used to treat rheumatoid and inflammatory diseases such as asthma, rheumatoid, inflammatory bowel disease, systemic lupus and many other conditions in which inflammation is a part of the disease process.

Anabolic/androgenic Steroids

The androgenic/anabolic steroid group, which includes hormones that regulate testosterone production in the testicles or ovaries, is the second category of steroids. The anabolic portion of testosterone helps increase body tissue and protein production. The pituitary gland is located at the base and helps regulate hormone secretion and testosterone production. The pituitary gland secretes many hormones, including growth hormone and follicle stimulant hormone (FSH), which stimulate testis function and ovary function.

Prescription medications are available for anabolic and androgenic steroids. These can be used when the body doesn’t produce enough hormones and supplementation may need to be given. This pathway also includes growth hormone and testosterone. Although these medications can be legally prescribed by doctors, they are often illegally used and abused to increase athletic performance and improve the appearance of the body. Anabolic steroids can cause weight gain when used in a healthy body. This is primarily due to the increase in muscle mass.

Rad 140 can have positive effects when administered under medical supervision. However, side effects can be severe and irreversible. These side effects can be caused by abnormally high testosterone levels in the body.

  • High blood pressure
  • High cholesterol
  • Liver damage
  • Heart failure
  • Acne
  • Baldness
  • Violent and aggressive behavior

There are many common rad 140 for sale steroids. There are many common anabolic steroids. Some mimic the effects of testosterone, while others cause excess testosterone to be produced by interfering in the body’s normal hormone regulation system. It all ends up the same. The body can use excess testosterone to alter cell function and organ function.

These steroids may have a street name or trade name in addition to their chemical name. The chemical stanozol, for example, is known as Winstrol in the manufacturing process but is also known by the street name “Winny”. Genotropin, the manufacturer’s name of human growth hormone (HGH), is what Genotropin stands for.

There are many names for steroids. Each country might have its own versions. Some steroids may have chemical similarities to testosterone such as methyl testosterone and oxymetholone. They can also be so-called “designer” steroids that are manufactured to pass drug tests, like norbolethone and desoxymethyltestosterone.

Anabolic steroids are a few examples that you might see:

  • Anabol
  • Android
  • Androstenedione
  • Winstrol
  • Deca-Durabol
  • THG
  • Genabol
  • HGH

Anabolic steroids can be either injected or taken as pills, depending on the type. Due to the nature of these drugs, which require a recovery period and prevent detection, many steroids are taken in cycles. They are usually used for only a few days, then they are stopped and the cycle is repeated several days or weeks later.

What are the side effects of prolonged steroid abuse?

Anabolic steroids may be abused if you notice rapid weight gain or unusual mood swings. Increased aggression may be a sign of abuse. Acne can be seen almost every day.

Side effects of steroids may be caused by excess androgen or anabolic drugs in the body.

Steroids can suppress the natural testosterone in the body. In males, this may result in a decrease of testicle size (atrophy), decreased production, fertility, and baldness. The excess steroid can also be converted into estrogen in males, which may cause enlarged breasts (known to as gynecomastia). Females may experience a deeper voice and changes in their menstrual cycle. They might also have an increase in hair production. Women may also experience baldness.

  • These steroids can also directly affect many organs.
  • Acne is a result of a higher number of skin sebaceous glands.
  • Sometimes liver damage can occur and there is always a chance of developing liver cancer.

There are many ways that the heart can be damaged. The heart muscle can enlarge as with any other muscle due to an excess of steroid. Hypertrophy (or enlargement) can cause decreased pumping ability (cardiomyopathy), as well as changes to the electrical conduction system of the heart that may result in rhythm changes (arrhythmias), palpitations and possibly sudden cardiac death. Steroids can also increase blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugars. All of these are risk factors for stroke and heart attack.
